ABOUT US

In 1999 a few keen tenpin bowlers joined forces and started the 55+ TBANZ..

A meeting was convened and the Association was born. Since then it has continued to flourish and we have had eleven years of fun, friendship and fellowship.

Being greeted with handshakes and cuddles by members at our tournaments is a heart warming experience and has all the hallmarks of a big family reunion.

Tournaments are generally held three times a year - February, June and September at various centres throughout New Zealand.

These tournaments are based on the handicap system of 100% of 180, this being considered the fairest to all members regardless of age and ability.

Handicaps apply to the Mystery Pairs; Mixed Doubles; Teams/ and:

Singles -

C Grade Ladies and Men

B Grade, Ladies and Men

 A Grade Ladies and Men.

Handicaps do not apply to the Open Grade Ladies and Men's Singles.

Gradings are for the Singles only  and based on the following averages:

  • C Grade 100-119

  • B Grade 120-139

  • A Grade Men 140-159

  • A Grade Ladies 140-149

  • Open Grade Ladies - 150 and above

  • Open Grade Men - 160 and above

A member's average is carried over from the tournament in which they last played.

Tournaments are generally three day fixtures, but from time to time, because of the number of lanes in some centres, it is necessary to extend play to four days, depending on the number of entries received.
